Oval Medicis vase

Beautiful oval Medici planter or vase handmade in white earthenware.

Originally created as coolers, wine glasses could be kept cool immersed in cold water until they were needed. The notches on the edge of the piece held the foot of the glass in place.

This elegant ceramic piece can be used as a planter, a vase, for fruit or bread or as a decorative piece on a mantlepiece.
